MYF Girls Flag Football Program Update June 2026

We’re thrilled to share a strong update on our Inaugural Girls Flag Football program for Fall 2026! Your feedback has been invaluable, and a recent survey (92 responses) shows overwhelming interest in launching a dedicated girls-only flag football option for our athletes.

Survey Results at a Glance

Interest Level:

  • 42.4% Definitely would play
  • 41.3% Probably would play
  • 16.9% Maybe would play

This means over 83% of respondents are leaning toward participation — a fantastic sign of demand!

Grade Level Interest Breakdown:

  • 1st Grade: 3
  • 2nd Grade: 9
  • 3rd Grade: 8
  • 4th Grade: 18
  • 5th Grade: 12
  • 6th Grade: 19
  • 7th Grade: 15
  • 8th Grade: 10

We’ll finalize specific divisions based on final registration numbers. We know we will have opponents from the Waukesha County area in the 5th–8th grade levels. Given the high interest in 4th grade, we may consider combining them with 5th grade (or 5th & 6th) to create strong, competitive teams.

Other Communities/Programs with Teams: Pewaukee Schools, Pewaukee Park & Rec, Kettle Moraine, Mukwonago, Lake Country (Arrowhead), with Germantown, Oconomowoc, and Catholic Memorial possibly joining as well in the future.

Program Highlights

  • Target Ages: 1st–8th Grades (divisions to be confirmed).
  • Schedule: Designed to work around other fall activities like Warrior Volleyball, coed flag, and cross country.
  • 1–2 practices per week (coach’s choice) + primarily Sunday games, with some possible Saturday or weekday away games.
  • We’ll prioritize scheduling to avoid major conflicts with primary sports.
  • Focus: Fun, skill-building, teamwork, and building confidence in a supportive, girls-only environment.

Addressing Parent Questions & Feedback

  • Coed League Option: Girls can still join an existing coed flag league if preferred. The new girls-only MYF program is an additional or primary choice for those who want it.
  • Current Registrations:
  • We’ll open targeted registration before the end of June 2026.
  • Girls signed up for MYF tackle can easily switch to flag if desired.
  • Scheduling: We heard the concerns about balancing with primary sports — the lighter schedule should help make this manageable as a secondary sport.
  • Coaching & Volunteers: Thank you for the many offers! We have interest in head coaches, assistants, and Board volunteers. If you’d like to help, please email us at bod@muskegoyouthfootball.com.

Next Steps

  1. Targeted Registration — Opening soon (target: before July 1, 2026).
  2. Feasibility & Divisions — Reviewing numbers and securing field availability in the coming weeks.
  3. Your Continued Input — Share any additional thoughts, suggestions, or concerns. This program is being shaped by your feedback!
  4. Required Equipment: Mouthguard, cleats, no-pocket black shorts & pants, and a water bottle. Guardian shell is optional. MYF will provide jerseys, flags, and all other necessary equipment for practices and games.

This is a tremendous opportunity to expand athletic options for our young female athletes while strengthening the MYF “Foundations Forged” culture. Thank you for the enthusiastic support and willingness to help!
